It consists of an all-inclusive kit in 3 parts: The main battery control system, LED lights and solar panel. The main battery control system houses the battery pack along with IR remote control and protection circuitry. The light modules use neutral colored LEDs with diffuser lens for good general-purpose applications.There are three modes of operation: twilight, medium and high with each light module controlled independently from the remote. The solar panel is a crucial part of the SLS-001, as its the primary method of charging the internal battery pack.
For best results, the solar panel should be on the south side of your structure and facing directly up or at a slight angle towards the horizon for best sun exposure. The most effective angle will depend on what part of the world you live in, so you may need to experiment with the position to obtain the strongest sunlight. Stronger sunlight will provide faster and more consistent charging of the battery pack (although it will charge even on overcast days at a slower rate). System Charging: The SLS-001 will charge with two methods; solar panel and AC/DC power adapter. The primary charging method is the solar panel, which will continuously charge the battery pack until full anytime there is exposure to the sun.The included AC/DC power adapter provides the same functionality when you have access to AC power, which is beneficial prior to a storm where sunlight may be limited. Any time there is power from one of these two sources, the small red battery-charging light will flash. Once the battery pack is fully charged, the red light will stay on solid. If there is no red light at all, there is neither AC power nor solar power charging the system.
Turning ON or changing modes: In standby (lights OFF), press the main power button on the remote (red button with power symbol) this will enable the whole system, at which point you will see a small green light on the front panel. If there were any lights enabled the last time you shut the system off, it will remember that and turn them back ON at the same level.
If no lights were ON previously, press the button(s) corresponding to the light and brightness level you desire. Each light has its own independent control, 0 (OFF), 1, 2, 3 (twilight, medium, high). To conserve battery capacity, when you are done using the lights make sure to press the main power button on the remote to shut down the controller, at which point the small green light on the front panel will turn OFF.
